I absolutely loved my day as Grace and Trevor’s Kentucky wedding photographer, capturing heartwarming, wholesome moments at Red Orchard Barn in Shelbyville this summer!
This one was a little extra special to me as I actually had the privilege of knowing Grace pre-Trevor for about five years now (yep, I’ve known her longer Trevor 😉 ) we met on an AIM missions trip to Ecuador back in 2017 where we became friends and spent a week with an awesome group of people in the Amazon. Fast forward about four years later, I got to meet Trevor when we met up at Quill’s Coffee (one of the best coffee shops in Louisville) for a quick little meet and greet.
After that first meet up, reconnecting with Grace and Trevor and hearing all about their story and their goals for their big day, I couldn’t wait for 6/25/22 to come.
I started the day by meeting up with Trevor and the groomsmen at a beautiful cabin out in Shelbyville. The cabin had that rustic cabin in the woods vibe we all loved and was surrounded by multiple little spur trails.
Shortly after arriving and talking with all his friends, I pulled Trevor aside for a few minutes to talk about how he was feeling and his excitement for what they day held for them while capturing his prep photos with his dad.
After that, Trevor, the boys and I headed out into the summer heat and escaped the sun by going down one of the little spur trails that surrounded the cabin. A few minutes later, the woods erupted with laughter as the guys all joked around together (and honestly, joked on Trevor playfully a little as well) and enjoyed some joyful moments. After about fifteen minutes we went back into the air conditioning of the airbnb where I packed up and headed out to meet up with Grace and her bridesmaids.
Grace and her bridal party were getting ready at a STUNNING modern rustic Airbnb in downtown Shelbyville called The Le Coop. Only ten minutes away from the Red Orchard Barn and with other venues in the area, The Le Coop offers a beautiful aesthetic and natural light that makes for great images.
After hanging up Grace’s elegant and lace-y dress from Wedding Belles, a beautiful boutique in Clarksville, Tennessee; she slipped it on and we spent a little time capturing wholesome moments of Momma Rumsey aiding in the buttoning of the dress. Charity, Grace’s sister and maid of honor then helped Grace strap up her dusty blue pair of Dream Pairs heels. The shoes were honestly one of my favorite things to photograph that day as they really just suited the beautiful bride on her wedding day!
One thing I love about Grace is her willingness to go with my crazy ideas, even when it includes walking into the middle of the busy downtown Shelbyville road for some bridal portraits. Don’t worry, there were many people to help watch traffic as we went into the road, and many waiting cars and bystanders cheered and hyped her up as she twirled in her flow-y gown.
We then made our way to the Red Orchard Barn to prep for their intimate first look and private vows. When Trevor turned around and saw his bride walking towards him, his reaction was so precious!
During first looks I always ensure my couples have time to soak up the moment and just enjoy each other’s presence without any distractions before moving onto the next thing. During that little window of time, the two cried, laughed, smiled, and embraced each other and reminisced on the adventure that brought them to that moment.
After an amazing, God-centered ceremony full of joy and worship to God, the two said their I-do’s and tied that knot and the rest is now history. We celebrated together, took some couples portraits under the lush green trees and in front of a beautiful, bold red, old-school Chevelle and danced the night away under the stars. It was a wild ride!
It’s safe to say I don’t think I’ll ever forget this Emotional, Red Orchard Barn Wedding thanks to these two. It was amazing to be able to have been part of such a monumental moment in their story together!
