I had an amazing day as Julianna and Daniel’s Kentucky Engagement Photographer, capturing joyful and intimate engagement photographs at the Falls of the Ohio State Park in Clarksville, Indiana! 

The Falls of the Ohio State Park in Clarksville just across the river from Louisville, Kentucky is one of my go to favorite locations for an outdoorsy, down by the water, nature setting for sessions in my hometown. The Falls of the Ohio offers many paths and walkways through lush green trees for an in the woods scene, which then opens up to a rocky bank along the Ohio River where you can put your feet in the water, cool off a bit and witness a stunning sunset if the weather is ripe for it. 

We started Julianna and Daniel’s session at the Falls under the shade of the trees as the sun was still a little too harsh to be out in. Julianna and Daniel (like most couples) had never really had any professional level photos of them taken before, and they found themselves to be a bit nervous to have a camera in front of them. However, those fears were quickly wiped away within the first few minutes of taking photos. 

I love to start every session by telling the couple, “I want you to take what you know of professional level photography, crumple it up in your mind like a piece of paper and throw it in the trash. Be yourselves, have fun! This isn’t an engagement session, this is date night. Don’t be afraid to be yourselves and have a lot of fun with this!”  

And they definitely had so much fun. Laughter erupted from under the trees as the two embraced one another and played little games and competed against each other. This brought their focus off of the camera and onto one another. 

As the sun began to set, we made our way to the rocky banks of the river where we shifted the mood to become more intimate. The stunning golden sunset lighting fell on the perfectly as they continued to laugh together and exchange little kisses and pieces of their heart and hopes for the future as husband and wife.

A few days later I sent them their preview gallery and Julianna posted in the Rooted Photo & Film Co. Facebook Group: “I’m OBSESSED!! We had so much fun on our shoot and It felt like A date night. Ethan made us feel so comfortable and we laughed the whole time. Thank you so much Ethan!!” 

My greatest satisfaction from my business doesn’t come from bookings and deposits, but it comes from being a part of documenting emotive and special moments for couples so that they are never forgotten. By their reactions and expressions when they first see their images. The story that plays back in their mind that gives them butterflies all over again. 

I had so much fun as Julianna and Daniel’s Kentucky Engagement Photographer, and I’m humbled that they trusted  me to capture romantic Engagement photography for them at the Falls of the Ohio State Park!
