I loved my time as Maxine and Harrison’s Colorado elopement photographer and helping them plan their emotional Rocky Mountain National Park elopement in the Summer.
One year earlier, Maxine and Harrison decided to sign their marriage license privately at a courthouse in Denver. During their initial discovery call with me, they told me how beautiful and sentimental it was to them, but they felt like something was missing. They hadn’t yet had the opportunity to celebrate their love, their way. They didn’t like the idea of planning a large, traditional reception; instead, they wanted to pursue another more intimate option while connecting with their wild side and love for their Colorado Rockies.
In four short months, I had the opportunity to build an incredible friendship with Maxine and Harrison, and I helped them plan an intimate elopement in Colorado on June 12th, 2023.
Maxine and Harrison’s adventure started in one of my favorite little hidden gems in the Roosevelt National Forest. This trail sits right outside of the park and is perfect for couples who want a private ceremony. The weather was overcast, rainy, and a little foggy, but this couple embraced it during their vows and ring exchange.
Maxine and Harrison read their vows at a spot slightly off the trail overlooking the surrounding mountains. Their vows were sweet, powerful, and full of so much love for one another. I’ll be honest, I started to tear up a little bit myself!
After their vows and a symbolic exchange of rings, we explored the trail a little further and took portraits along the way. Around late afternoon, we hiked back to the cars and headed into Rocky Mountain National Park.
We stopped and made a quick detour at the West Alluvial Fan Trail on our way up to Trail Ridge Road. West Alluvial Fan is right inside the Fall River Entrance station on the east side of the park which has a stunning view of the mountains, and a rushing river and water all at the trailhead. Maxine and Harrison exchanged a series of cheeky kisses and joyful laughs as they explored. We even got to see some Elk close up!
As the sun began to set and the fog left behind from the rain started to fade, we left West Alluvial and made our way up to Trail Ridge Road.
Maxine and Harrison were in awe of the terrain and mountain peaks that lay before them along Trail Ridge Road. During their portraits, they cuddled up together, keeping each other warm, and began reminiscing about the day and everything they experienced together. This made for many intimate couples portraits with an incredible view of the mountains!
Maxine and Harrison, thank you so much for choosing me as your Colorado elopement photographer! Working with you, helping you plan your Rocky Mountain National Park elopement in the summer, and documenting it was a gift and an honor I will forever cherish. I cannot wait to continue to see what God has in store for the two of you. Keep loving each other fiercely!
